What some of my bar students have to say:

"The day I found out that I did not pass the bar exam I was devastated beyond measure. Not only did I feel like a failure, I had no idea necessarily where I went wrong and how to fix my mistakes. I had arduously studied, went to all my bar classes, and followed the study schedule. I was on the ledge...Then, a friend of mine told me about Andrew.
I called him and thereafter we met continously, right up to the day before the February bar exam. Not only did he work with my schedule, he showed me that I could do it, that I could pass this exam. Andrew diagnosed my weak spots and gave me useful solutions. I stuck to his program and it worked...I passed. There was no magic, no crazy, hardcore, absolutely unbearable schedule, just a damn good teacher!" Malika (PA)

'Thank you very much for all you did including that last nice push you gave me! I would not have done it without you!' Nathan (PA and NJ)

"Just wanted to let you know that I passed the NJ exam!!! I wanted to thank you again for helping me through it. It really changed the way I looked at the exam." Duncan (NJ)

"WE DID IT! ME AND ZACH PASSED! dude, I will be forever indebted to you, if you ever need a reference in the future, you've got a GOLDEN one" Neil (and Zach) (PA)

"After taking BarBri and then taking lessons from Andrew, his outlines may seem very minimal at first glance. However, they really work. He teaches you exactly what you need to know and what is definitely going to be on the bar exam. In addition, he provides answers to any questions that you might have, is always readily available, and allows you to submit as many essay questions as you can handle for review and feedback. The most important and helpful thing that Andrew taught me throughout our lessons was that he taught me how to see the forest for the trees -- something that is necessary to be successful on the bar exam. Instead of being overwhelmed with the material, his outlines are very focused and detailed enough so that it becomes simple to absorb the material. I would recommend Andrew to anyone who is studying for the bar." Ted (PA)

Description of my Bar Exam tutoring style

My tutoring approach for the Bar Exam is twofold. For the essay portion of the test I have outlines for each of the subject areas that I crafted based on what has actually been on the test in the last 10 years. Most of them are only a page or two long so your study time will be much more efficient. I also will look at your previous essays and tell you where you missed out on points, and grade a good number of practice essays for you.

For the Multi-state portion of the test I also have outlines for each subject. These areas of law are so expansive that a lot of times people miss really important rules of law because they are trying to learn everything in the BarBri outlines. In addition to these outlines I like to use the PMBR practice questions because they are much closer to the multi-state questions than BarBri's practice questions. If you don't have PMBR materials I can supply you with those.

My basic philosophy is to focus on the areas that actually get tested frequently, whereas BarBri is comprehensive, but gives way more information than anyone could internalize. My role is to help you to know where to spend your time to get the biggest payoff in terms of score.

My schedule is very flexible. I generally like to do 2 hour sessions, meeting at a bookstore or library. I am always available by phone or email between sessions to answer any questions that may come up.

What this blog is for.

I created this blog so my current students can share information, and prospective students can learn about the type of work I do. I find one-on-one tutoring to be the most effective means to learn the law, as well as the skills needed to do well on the LSAT. I will have posts on how I tutor for the LSAT, the bar exam, and law school classes. I hope it will be helpful and informative.
